Burgundy countryside, Tournus
Here we are back in the very old Romanesque church dates for here 1000 (approx) and can be similar to Cluny II.
Another medieval village perched on a promontory. Castle, hall and church with frescoes, all of the 12th century.
After the campaign, we have joined the small town of Tournus to visit the Abbey of Saint-Philibert. It also dates back to thousand. This is probably the oldest of Burgundy still in very good condition. Everything is a bit massive, but the building is huge and therefore weight. Well above the narthex, chapel (St. Michael) is impressive for its size.
12th century mosaic
Notre-Dame de la Brune, still the 12th century.
